Pendle Community High School & College held their Christmas Fair on Thursday 6th December. Staff and students worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the event to ensure this year’s fair was the biggest and best it has ever been, and it didn’t disappoint.
The event was opened with a tinsel cutting ceremony performed by the Mayoress of Pendle, Mrs Janet Starkie. Visitors were greeted by a special festive café serving drinks, mini Christmas puddings and lots of goodies. There were many activities to enjoy including making wooden decorations in Santa’s Workshop, decorating festive biscuits in Mrs Claus’ Kitchen and visiting Santa himself in the Grotto! The whole school was buzzing with festive spirit as people visited the various stalls and got involved in games, raffles, auctions and competitions!
Headteacher Chris Lingard said “I am delighted with the quality of the event and the huge support offered by parents, staff, students and the wider community. Well done everyone.”
The purpose of the event was to raise money to send some of our students on a residential trip to the lake district with the Calvert Trust. This trip will enable students with complex needs to enjoy activities for which most outdoor centres cannot cater. These activities include activities like canoeing, kayaking, sailing and much more! So far we have raised an incredible £1600 with more money still coming in so it looks like we are well on our way to reaching our target and making this trip happen.
We would like to say a very special thank you to all those involved in making this event a success including staff, parents, carers, students and community members who donated, attended and helped out at the event. We would also like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors ASDA, Cafe Cargo, Kelz Kutz, Lanlee, Morrisons, Boots Opticians Burnley, Buoyant Upholstery, KiloCreative, Pendleside Hospice, Sainsbury’s, The Workshop, The Festive Bowtique, Dewhursts, Furnico, Inside Spa, Pendle Vale College, Rios Unisex Hair Salon, Bentley and Reed.
