A special day to help to foster a love of reading in our young people. To celebrate this day at Pendle Community we have decided to plan a variety of activities for students working in school and remote learning to participate in.
Fancy Dress
Students are invited to dress-up as their favourite character (from their favourite book) at home and at school!!
Book in a Box
Decide on a favourite book you want to showcase, then grab yourself a shoebox and get drawing, cutting and sticking to make a scene of your book inside it. Once it is finished, put the title on the box and take a photograph of you holding your creation and a close up of it too. Then send your photograph to your teacher.
Photo Challenge
Find your favourite book and take a photo of you reading your favourite book in your favourite reading spot for our display in the library!
Share a story
We will be asking students to ‘share a story’ to encourage students to read and share stories with someone at home.
Making a Scene!
Can you record a short clip of a scene from your favourite story? Send this to your teacher!
This year there is a digital version of the £1 book token that can be printed at home or shown to booksellers on your phone or tablet.
World Book Day official website
The website has a huge variety of resources on it. Here are a few links to the pages you may find the most useful. The resources are available now to use any time up until WBD – but not on the day.
