Marsden students enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Salvation Army in Nelson on 3 March 2026, where they learned first‑hand how charities support local communities. As part of their learning objectives, students explored how foodbanks operate, discovered the wide range of charitable work carried out by the Salvation Army, and took part in preparing food parcels for families in need. During a guided tour, they visited the church, charity shop, coffee shop and foodbank, gaining insight into the organisation’s history and day‑to‑day work. The highlight for many was selecting items to create food parcels, an activity that helped them understand the importance of giving and community care. The visit offered a meaningful and memorable learning experience for all involved.
