Students enjoyed an engaging and insightful visit to Aldi in Colne on May 7th, where they explored how information technology shapes modern retail work. As part of their research task, they took part in a lively IT treasure hunt, spotting everything from door and temperature sensors to CCTV systems and barcode scanners. They were particularly fascinated by the digital price tags, which update automatically without staff needing to change labels manually. The visit supported key learning objectives, giving students meaningful encounters with employers and real workplace technology. The session was organised in collaboration with Digital Careers, helping students link curriculum learning to real-world career pathways.
