During the visit to Integrational Care Services in Nelson on Thursday 26th March, our Digital Careers students explored how information technology supports real workplace environments while engaging meaningfully with service users. The visit aligned with key educational objectives, including conducting research, asking purposeful questions, and observing IT in professional settings. Students took part in activities designed for service users, completed an IT treasure hunt to identify how technology is used across the centre, and spoke with the manager to learn about the role of a care worker. Both students and service users enjoyed the experience, with PCHS & C students representing the college exceptionally well and gaining insight into assistive technologies such as speech‑translation tools.
