On Tuesday 5th December we held our annual Christmas Market event. Once again the main street was lined with custom built stalls selling various items ranging from graze boxes and cupcakes to jewellery and personalised items. We also had representatives from The Bodyshop and Scentsy as well as our local alternative shop Funky Gifts. There was a huge selection of gifts to buy just in time for Christmas! We had a visit from The Mayor of Pendle as well as The Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley along with their attendants and they were very impressed with the event and had a lot of fun taking part in the activities.

In the hall we welcomed back our furry friends from Ark Education Barn and this year they brought their gorgeous doggy Noah. Noah was a big hit with the children although he was a little bit sulky at having to share a pen with the sheep and Marmalade the goat! Our DT department once again built a fantastic grotto for Santa who had a stream of visitors all night long. The raffle and tombola were busy all night long and some fantastic prizes were won including hampers, Burnley V Liverpool matchday tickets, vouchers for meals out at local eateries and much more! We were very grateful of the generosity of everyone who donated to make this a success. Other activities in the hall included Hook a Duck, Face Painting and the popular Human Fruit Machine! I’m unsure as to who had the most fun, the guests or the staff!

In The Workshop there was a queue to get in and build a wooden reindeer. This activity was a huge success last year so we had to bring it back for the second year in a row. Children and parents enjoyed knocking the various pieces of wood together and then finding different decorations to bring the reindeer to life. It looks as though this will have to be a regular attraction each year.

For the first year we had our own bar area ‘Tinsel Tipples’ selling baileys hot chocolates and mulled wine. This proved to be very popular and people enjoyed gathering in the ambient area beside the (fake) fireplace. We even had a visit from The Grinch!

The event was once again a huge success and raised a whopping £2000! As always, we would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to making this event a success. We rely heavily on the support of our community and year on year, you do us proud.

Merry Christmas everyone!
